ABOUT MOONBOW MAGAZINE

Picture
A moonbow is a non-typical rainbow, creating it's very own colors of the spectrum.
MOONBOW MAGAZINE is a non typical magazine featuring the works of creatives on their own spectrum...

MOONBOW is 100% homegrown and born from a dream to create a premium format/ space to find our arts, words, photos, essays, and music -all in one place and accessible. Both as a high quality print magazine and e-zine.
This is only the first seed, and it's all by me, eli. Now I reach out to all my relations on the autistic spectrum, to help me water and pull the weeds.
Your art/words/works (except porn/bigotry/racism/sexism and hate) can be submitted to:

ABOUT THE DREAMER

Picture
I was diagnosed with Aspergers at 31 when my new PTSD shrink could not wrap his mind around the fact that I had never completed the 7th grade and yet took a GED and completely skipped high school. He looked offended as he rattled on in the most dis believing way possible about how I, in a zoology class in college—managed to beat the grades of the pre med students. I don't blame him, it probably appeared narcsistic as I crowed like a coo coo about beating everyones grades, but that was a pretty big deal for someone who had never ever been in a biology class before.

Harping on my (then) inability to look eye to eye, much less communicate effectively most of the time—he shuffled me a few papers and mumbled something about answering these questions as best as you can. It took him one glance of my exam responses before that raised eyebrow AHA! look spread across his face like a plague of locust. "You have Aspergers" he beamed, "and your inability to communicate socially will prevent you from completing anything". In his neuro-typical mind his reasoning was rock solid: my "inability to deal with society" would conquer my newfound love for 'being in the world', leading to paralyzing levels of depression and frustration.

Sentenced to oblivion by the DR. who was supposed to help me escape it, I rebelled with the might of a thousand hungry warriors. I remember his words to this day, almost 3 decades later, and I rebel. I rebel by doing my best at whatever I try, extending my limits and fertilizing my dreams. I rebel by learning to be around the same neurotypicals and their life long shun—on my own terms; with my head held high and my creativity a blaze. I rebel for every one of us autistics whom has slipped through societies cracks, and I rebel to go beyond the "nothing you can do "stereotype and spread the medicine of ART.

You may have noticed the 101% on the spectrum logo on some of the products advertised here and in MOONBOW MAGAZINE, that's from my autism pride collection. It reflects how many autistics give more than 100 percent of themselves to what ever endeavor/person excites us. I now give 101% to the MoonBow Media project—for both the unlimited value of art as medicine on to promoting our images/music/movies as a means to put food on the table.

You may have also noticed that rather loaded and drastic word PROUD, I put PROUD front and center-as too many times I have been put down and literally abused for my differences-and now is my time to celebrate them.

You can find my works through-out the first edition of MoonBow Magazine as well as at any of my online stores...
